General Surgery
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust
August 2026
5,843 people were waiting to start treatment at the end of the month, counted from the day their referral was received.
People whose wait ended this month
- 220 admitted for treatment, after a typical wait of 22 weeks
- 1,020 treated or discharged without admission, after 9 weeks
On this waiting list, or been on it? Log your wait
The clock starts when the hospital receives the referral and stops when treatment starts or the patient is discharged. People still waiting have not finished their wait, so their final wait will be longer than shown.

Independent providers treat NHS-funded patients for a narrower range of conditions, so waits are not directly comparable with a hospital trust.
No waits logged yet
Figures appear here once 10 people have logged a wait in the last 90 days. Official figures stop the clock at first treatment. We also count waits for tests, results and follow-up appointments, and how often the hospital cancelled.

Ratings are the Care Quality Commission's, from its published directory of 1 October 2026, under the Open Government Licence. A rating stands until the next inspection, so check the date: many are years old. "Responsive" is the question about waiting. CQC data

Know where you stand
- 18 weeks. You have the right to start consultant-led treatment within 18 weeks of referral for a non-urgent condition. If that is not possible, the local NHS board must take all reasonable steps to offer a suitable alternative provider. Handbook to the NHS Constitution
- Suspected cancer: 28 days. After an urgent referral for suspected cancer, you should be told whether you have cancer, or that it has been ruled out, within 28 days. This is an NHS standard the hospital is measured against, rather than a legal right, but it is fair to ask why if it is missed. NHS guide to waiting times
- Ask to be treated somewhere else. If you are likely to wait longer than 18 weeks, you have the legal right to ask to be seen by a different provider. The hospital or the local NHS board must look into it and offer alternatives that could see you sooner. NHS guide to waiting times
- Choose your hospital. When you are referred for a first outpatient appointment, you have the right to choose which provider you are referred to. Waiting times differ, so it is worth comparing. Handbook to the NHS Constitution
